2005-06-26 - 1:30 p.m.
i played three games of air hockey last night. we had a party in the rain and in the night to celebrate solstice. the kid i played against is five. he likes to make up his own rules: if he scores the red one, he gets five points but the red one is only worth one if i score it. other rules are posted above the table such as: no putting silly putty in the holes. he kicked my butt.
i refrained from playing cranium due to my militant style of cranium playing that i've realised of late. i cannot play that game without taking it seriously. pity.
the party house truly is a lovely household. it was a potluck and people brought all kinds of yummy treats. we made bannock on the fire and drank homemade wine. we played frisbee. we sang and played lots of instruments from a magical trunk of percussion just like hippies tend to do.
the wind snapped off my dahlia. it was planted in the middle of some marigolds and looked quite at home. i tried to revive it with water to no avail. the tomato plants that got snapped off in the wind are growing roots in mason jars. they will be in dirt again soon.
my mom sent me my sewing machine. yesterday i bought lots of material and sewing supplies for fun in the sewing room. i started a button jar. happiness may well be a button jar.
soon i will be cat-sitting. the cat is coming here. if you have cat advice i may need a few phone-a-friends because i'm okay with dogs but not so okay on cats.
sofar this year lots of people have said they would come and visit me and they have not come. this is understandable but also slightly disappointing. i like the people i have met here but i miss my friends.
this is a stream of consciousness post...?
the past two sundays i have had brunch dates. brunch dates on sunday are fantabulous. i can't think of a better thing to do on sunday than eat breakfast in the sunshine with a lovely lady or gent.
